Preston Garvey is a human male NPC.
Characteristics / Services
- Can be recruited as a Companion.
- Preston Garvey is the de facto leader of the Minutemen and you encounter him early on. Saving him and his group is your introduction to Settlements in the game, and he offers several quests to help you expand your settlement network and establish trade routes.
- Uses a laser musket in battle and is a sturdy support companion with his perk, making you an effective pairing against groups.

Notes
- Preston can sometimes be caught humming the melodies of classic American folklore tunes, when waiting or left to his own devices
- Since he is also the primary quest giver for the generic Minutemen faction quests, interacting with him as a companion can sometimes be annoying since he will also give you updates on them even mid-combat
- It seems that his AI is unable to use the unique "crank"-function of any Laser Musket other than his own
