Preston Garvey is a Companion in Fallout 4. He is also known as the last of the Minutemen. Companions are the different characters you will encounter while exploring Locations in the game who you can recruit to join you during the campaign. They have their preferences and character alignment which affects their Affinity Level. Raising their Affinity Level to the maximum will reward players with a unique Companion Perk. Preston Garvey is a romanceable character.

How to Recruit Preston Garvey in Fallout 4

To unlock or recruit Preston Garvey in Fallout 4, you have to do the following:

  • First, locate him at the Sanctuary Hills and help him rescue the Minutemen at Concord, then bring them to the Sanctuary Hills. After completing this side quest, you can now recruit Preston Garvey. 

Where to Find Preston Garvey in Fallout 4

Preston Garvey is located at the Museum of Conquer. Requires to complete Quest: When Freedom Calls.

 

Fallout 4 Preston Garvey Information

Preston Garvey is recognized as the last of the Minutemen until its collapse following the Quincy Massacre. The once-reveled group of volunteer civilian defense militia was nearly wiped out after its own members betrayed each other and the people they were supposed to protect. Now, it’s just Preston Garvey who is actively fulfilling the role of the Minutemen. He seeks to protect settlements and their civilians to bring them to safety.

Preston Garvey offers a unique companion perk that players can earn upon reaching the maximum affinity level with him. He reacts to the Sole Survivor’s actions and dialogue choices, directly affecting the affinity. By making sure that you do things in favor of Preston Garvey, you can earn United We Stand which grants Increased Damage Resistance and output if facing three or more opponents at once and also a chance to romance him. 

The maximum affinity level is 1000 points, and it begins at 0 and you have to work your way up. You will see a bubble whenever certain actions or dialogues affect Preston Garvey. He prefers it when the Sole Survivor is acting generous, peaceful, or mean, and dislikes it when the player is selfish, or violent. Aside from that, Preston Garvey also likes it when you modify your Weapons, which you can do several times until your affinity is maxed out.

His general affinity is aligned with good morals so he’s a good companion to take with you if you’re roleplaying as a kindhearted Sole Survivor
