Old Longfellow is a hunter who lives outside the town of Far Harbor. He has a long and painful history with the Children of Atom. However, the group had caught wind of their plans and attacked the pair to abduct Hannah. She was then brainwashed and exposed to worshipping the radiation and she suffered a miscarriage. Fallout 4 Old Longfellow Romance and Affinity Guide

Old Longfellow is a non-romanceable character, however, he still offers the Sole Survivor a permanent companion perk once his affinity is raised to the maximum level. You can do this by doing actions or choosing dialogues in his favor, including lockpicking and moderate alcohol consumption. While you're on the island, you will find lockpicking scenarios there, so raising his affinity shouldn't be a problem.

When it comes to his dislikes, Old Longfellow has a bad history with the Children of Atom. So, while in his presence, make sure that you will not help them, or be kind to them in any way. Aside from that, he prefers you not kill non-hostile characters, thievery, and take chems. Once you have managed to reach 1000 Affinity Level with Old Longfellow, he will grant you the Hunter's Wisdom perk, which reduces damage and energy resistance of animals and sea creatures by 25%.
