Walkthrough

After working with The Railroad during the main quest The Molecular Level you are given a Holotape from Desdemona to use at a terminal at The Institute (Location) to contact Patriot, who is working with the Railroad. Speak to Tinker Tom to receive the Network Scanner. Relay into the Institute, and access a terminal and insert the tape and read the message from Patriot.

Go to Advanced Systems into the maintenance room and speak to Liam Binet, who will introduce you to the synth Z1-14. Relay back to base and speak with Desdemona.

Patriot needs the login for the C.I.T. security sytem named Code Defender. Desdemona will send you to PAM who gives you some advice after entering the report on her terminal. A man named Wilfred Bergman has the login info at Cambridge Polymer Labs. Speak with a robot named Molly, take her orientation tour and you will find yourself now sealed in the clean room. This will trigger the misc Quest Cambridge Polymer Labs (Quest).

Defeat the Feral Ghoul and find the sign for lab C3. Enter via lab C4, you may access lab C5 through a hole in the wall. To get into C3, climb the ramp of debris, through the crawlspace and drop down the third hole in the floor. You may alternatively hack the expert terminal door for lab C3. Access Bergman's terminal here and obtain the password.

Return to Desdemona, who will let you know the plans for the immediate future. Relay back to the Institute and give the login to Liam Benet and speak to Z1-14. He will take 24 hours to decide how he wants to proeceed. When he does decide he will let you know that many volunteers have stepped forward and need weapons. You opt to place weaponry into the maintenance locker to better arm the synths for the coming fight. Access a storage area and take the elevator down, to fight off synths loyal to the Institute. Return to Z1-14 and let him know your success. Continue to work with Father covertly and complete the Institute quests Mankind Redefined and Mass Fusion.

After assisting Father in quests for The Institute once you complete the quest Powering Up , Z1-14 will send you a message. Relay into the Institute and speak to the rep and then access your Institute quarters which you received during the Institute quest Synth Retention. He will tell you of the Brotherhood of Steel's upcoming plans. Go back to Old North Church and speak with Desdemona who is preparing the Railroad to defend themselves. She gives you the Railway Rifle and Railway Spike ammo for the coming throwdown. This will also trigger the Railroad quest Precipice of War
