Sledgehammer in Fallout 4 is a Melee Weapon. Sledgehammer is a simple tool repurposed to serve as a melee weapon. Melee Weapons are close-quarters combat weapons designed for use in hand-to-hand combat. These weapons are effective for players who like to get down and dirty up close with their enemies. Weapons can be modified using the Weapons Workbench. Players would need to reach Local Leader rank 2 perk to craft a Weapons Workbench at a Settlement, or they can find these workbenches scattered all over the Commonwealth.

- This weapon is relatively heavy so it has a slow swing speed but it is capable of dealing high damage, especially in the early stages of the game.
- This weapon benefits from the Big Leagues rank 4 as it allows the weapon to hit multiple targets with every swing.
Fallout 4 Where to find Sledgehammer
- Often carried by Raiders and Super Mutants.
- Can be purchased from traders.
- Can be found leaning against the water pump the Sully Mathis is working on at Thicket Excavations.
- Can be found in the waystation along the train tracks west-northwest of Vault 81.
- Can be found inside the dam near Forest Grove Marsh on its reactor level.
- Can be found on top of a building next to the Haymarket Mall.
- Two of these can be found in Kendall Hospital. One is in the irradiated hallway after the deathclaw pit, the other one is just beyond the door after the hallway before opening the barred door.
- Can be found in the fusion core room at the Super Duper Mart.
- A legendary variant can be obtained after siding with Cog at the end of The Price of Memory quest.

- Unlike in the previous games, weapons in Fallout 4 are divided into three groups: normal, legendary, and unique. Normal weapons lack any special attributes. Legendary weapons come with random bonuses and are exclusively obtained from legendary enemies. Unique weapons come with predetermined names and will always retain the same special bonuses they came with. Unique weapons are often acquired through quests or purchased from merchants. While normal and legendary weapons may alter their names when modded, unique weapons maintain their original names.
