Switchblade in Fallout 4 is a Melee Weapon. Switchblade is a small bladed weapon with fast swing speed. Melee Weapons are close-quarters combat weapons designed for use in hand-to-hand combat. These weapons are effective for players who like to get down and dirty up close with their enemies. Weapons can be modified using the Weapons Workbench. Players would need to reach Local Leader rank 2 perk to craft a Weapons Workbench at a Settlement, or they can find these workbenches scattered all over the Commonwealth.

• This weapon boasts fast swing speed but does low damage.
• Its first thrust at an enemy followed by a slash.
• After investing one point into Blacksmith, you can modify it with the Serrated Blade which doubles the weapon's damage and adds bleeding damage.

• Can be found stabbed into the top of a computer terminal inside a trailer just north of the Vault 111 elevator.
• Can be found on a table next to a skull and chem coller up the first set of stairs in the Museum of Freedom in Concord.
• Commonly carried by Raiders.

• Unlike in the previous games, weapons in Fallout 4 are divided into three groups: normal, legendary, and unique. Normal weapons lack any special attributes. Legendary weapons come with random bonuses and are exclusively obtained from legendary enemies. Unique weapons come with predetermined names and will always retain the same special bonuses they came with. Unique weapons are often acquired through quests or purchased from merchants. While normal and legendary weapons may alter their names when modded, unique weapons maintain their original names.
